We have three great books for you this month.

Interview with a Vampire – Anne Rice.

Hosted by BW, backup KS.  This discussion of the first book in this series starts on Monday 12th January.  Please feel free to join us if you love LeStat, Louis or just vampires in general!  We will also be discussing the movie adaptation of IWAV and comparing it to the book.

Death on the Nile – Agatha Christie.

Hosted by Thea, backup Nabs.  This discussion of the famous Hercule Poirot murder mystery starts on Thursday 22nd January.

Veil of Midnight – Lara Adrian.

This is the fifth book in the Midnight Breeds series and this one features Nikolai on a mission to Montreal.  If you love this series, then please join us in the Paranormal Social Club to discuss.

Paranormal Social Club – Featured Author of the Month  

Our PSC featured author of the month is Adrian Phoenix, author of the The Maker’s Song series.  Join us to talk about this series, writing, and both books published so far – A Rush of Wings, and In the Blood.

Adrian will be checking in regularly to chat and answer your questions.  You also have the chance to WIN a signed copy of one of her Maker’s Song books!  All you have to do to be in the running is visit the Featured Author board and ask Adrian a question!

2009 Reading Challenges -including 52 Books in 52 Weeks

Our ever popular 52 Books in 52 Weeks Reading Challenge is back again for another year!  Yup if you enjoyed it in previous years then fear not because you get do to it all over again this year, and that means reading more lovely books!  Yay!  If you reached your 52 Books goal last year, then congratulations and kudos to you!  If you didn’t quite make it there last year then why not try again with some new books this year?  There are so many good books published this year it should be really easy to reach that goal.

As if that wasn’t enough book reading fun, we also have our Around the World in 80 Books challenge, the Book to Movie Challenge, the Dark Winter Tales Challenge and the Banned Books challenge all returning this year, plus a few new challenges for you!  Please take a look at this year’s Reading Challenges board.  (You will have to be logged into to the forum and a Book Group member to view this board!)

The Book to Movie Club

This is a relatively new part of the Book Group and it all revolves around books that have been adapted into movies (or sometimes TV shows).  All members are eligible to join if they love books and movies and want to discuss, the good, the bad and the ugly adaptations of their favourite books as well as discovering some new ones!  To join the Book to Movie Club, please visit the Online Book Group part of the forum or click the link. (Again you must be logged in and a Book Group member to view this board!)

The Richard and Judy Book Club

For all members in the UK this book club will be very familiar.  Richard and Judy are TV personalities and run a Book Club as part of their TV show.  Ten books are selected each January and discussed on the show.  The public then votes for their favourite from the ten chosen, and that book will be announced at the British Book Awards in April.  We are featuring all ten of these books, and also the New Writer’s books, in our Book Group this year.  You can find more details about all the books featured by clicking this link.  View Richard and Judy Book Club books.

The Book Buddy

Just a reminder that if you ever want to talk about a book not featured in our regular book group, then all you have to do is start your own thread in the Book Buddy board and advertise for someone to join you to read and discuss it together.   You will also find a field in your profile where you can enter who your book buddies are which will then be displayed on your posts.

Adopt an Author & Adopt a Paranormal Social Club Author

Our original Adopt an Author program is now into it’s 4th year and still going strong!  Though I would remind all members who have adopted an author to make sure they keep their author/s up to date or they might lose them to another member!

Because we have made some changes to the Paranormal Social Club, this also means some changes to the Adopt an Author program.  This means that we are looking for members to adopt all of our existing Paranormal Social Club authors and to suggest more authors that can be added to the PSC boards.  If you want to Adopt a Regular (non PSC) author then please use the thread in the Online Book Group board, but if you want to adopt or add a new Paranormal Social Club author then please PM me on the forum.  Again, please don’t volunteer if you can’t update your author regularly.

Book Reviewers

A new part of the site will be opening up shortly and this will involve book reviews.  If you are interested in being a Book Addict Book Reviewer then please contact me by PM on the forum indicating what genres/types of books you would like to review.  More details will be available on the forum shortly.

Definitely new to the Green Room @ The Vault section of the board, we have the featured recording artist of the month.  Each month a different artist or band will be featured on the site.  More details will be available shortly on the forum.

We have been admiring some actors for a long time in our Droolworthy Actors Studio, so it’s overdue that we have a featured actor of the month!  And just to show that we are not that shallow, we will also feature directors and even talk about their work! *gasp*
